Blighted Bellies n Pelvic Dreams

My journey to having a baby as a 38 yo with undetected Pelvic Inflammation Disease

We are here……changed plans.

on April 2, 2013

Egg pick up before Easter was great! Very very sore but put that down to 17 follicles working overtime to produce 10 perfect eggs…….ah!

My school holidays thoughties involved egg transfer Easter Monday (Good omen? New life for Jesus and us?) then 2 weeks of nothing but incubating our precious eggs without stress, worries, travel, work.

No wucken furries!!!

Or so I thought.

Thursday night, 2 days after pickup, my gyno rings me. First time ever. There was a problem in pick up. Progesterone levels. Old crinone. Wouldn’t take so why waste them. Dont cry or worry, we’ll freeze them. One of the nurses will ring you. A blur of conversation but get the gist of it.

My egg transfer’s not happening as soon as I expected.

Oh ok then. Talk soon he says. More conversations over the weekend with nurses, embryologists and updates on our precious cargo. A few tears at midnight-disappointed rather than upset. Lost direction rather than future plans. The first tears in the whole process, which is not too bad I think.

9 fertilised, 2 turned to blastocysts successfully n froze. 2 more blastocysts but poor cell counts or egg shell problems. Another 2 successfully frozen ๐Ÿ™‚ the rest made it to blastocysts but degenerated. Such is life.

Four are frozen, waiting. Waiting for me to be prepared. Waiting for me to know the next step. Waiting to be the right time. It’s meant to be.

As I said in an earlier post, it only takes one….and we have 4 waiting for us. ๐Ÿ™‚
